Ma rejects new BF, girl commits suicide

A TEENAGER took her own life because her mother was not too happy to find out about her new boyfriend.

The 16-year-old victim hanged herself inside their house in the island town of Sta. Fe, Cebu.

Roselle (real name withheld) was clad in black, and was last seen crying in church.

Her mother reportedly raised her alone because her biological father left the country and has another family.

The mother was reportedly overprotective to a point that Roselle was often berated if she came home late or failed to inform her mother of her whereabouts.

Mercy Jumaoan, a civilian employee at the Sta. Fe Police Station, said Roselle’s mother recently found out about her daughter’s involvement with a boy.

Last Saturday, Roselle’s mother reportedly went to the boy’s house and told him to break off the relationship.

Roselle had no idea how her boyfriend reacted to the incident since she didn’t see him after that.

The next day, Roselle’s mother left for Bantayan town to do some shopping.

Neighbors saw Roselle attend mass dressed all in black. They also noted that she cried incessantly.

At 2:20 p.m., Roselle’s mother arrived home to find her daughter hanging from the ceiling of their house.

She left no suicide note.

A police officer who happens to be Roselle’s neighbor said there were times when the mother would lock Roselle up in the house and not release her until the afternoon if they disagreed on something.

Roselle reportedly felt embarrassed when this happened.

Jumaoan believes Roselle had felt slighted several times because of her mother’s strictness. (MEA)
