Man holds vendor hostage

AN allegedly drunk man who was earlier reported for touching young girls in Barangay Tisa held hostage a vendor after police had managed to catch up with him.

Macky Sergio, 24, was overpowered by a civilian, which allowed the police to subdue him and rescue Cecille Acosta, 30.

Police had received reports of an armed person aboard a passenger jeepney, which prompted Mobile Patrol Group Car 008 headed by SPO4 Mario Revilla to look for the jeepney.

As they found the jeepney that matched the description, they quickly followed it.

When they reached F. Llamas St. in Barangay Punta Princesa, Sergio got off and fired at the police.

Chase

No one from Revilla’s crew was hurt and they pursued him.

Seeing that the police were hot on his heels, he grabbed Acosta, who was selling items along the road.

He held Acosta hostage.

However, a man, whom police were unable to identify, grabbed hold of Sergio and fought him for the firearm.

Police then managed to grab hold of his .38 revolver and placed him under arrest.

Before that, Sergio allegedly groped three teenage girls somewhere in Barangay Tisa, a radio dyAB report stated.

Sergio was quoted as saying that he was drunk and that he took a liking to the group of girls, who were reportedly wearing skimpy clothes.

He said he could not help himself, which was why he approached them.

Angry

Angry bystanders chased him away, prompting him to hop on a passing jeepney.

One of the bystanders immediately called up the police and informed them of what happened.

In Sitio Battalion, Barangay Tabunan, Cebu City, a man killed his brother and wounded his wife over a water hose that was blocking a path.

The incident happened at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Jose Diojenes Bontuyan, 39, died of a gunshot wound on the lower abdomen while his wife Alma, 37, suffered a gunshot wound in the right side of her body and right thigh.

Police are now looking for Jose’s brother Mario, 37.

The two were reportedly fighting over the water hose, which had blocked a pathway to one of their houses.

House stoned

This led Mario to hurl stones at Jose’s house. Not to be outdone, Jose also began picking up stones from the ground and throwing it at Mario’s house.

However, Mario went inside his house and grabbed a handgun. He shot Jose. When Alma tried to intervene, he also aimed at her and fired.

A hot pursuit was conducted but police failed to catch Mario.

Police from the Cebu City Homicide Section are trying to determine if there are elements that would allow them to file murder charges against Mario. (MEA)
