Cebu to host bowling trials

FOR the first time in the Visayas bowling history, the Philippine Bowling Congress will hold their eliminations in Cebu.

Bowlers from the Visayas and the Mindanao will have a shot at becoming members of the RP National Team in the RP Bowling Team National Eliminations on March 15 and 16 at the Gaisano Bowlingplex, Cebu City.

“I was surprised when PBC called me and told me that they will be having the RP Bowling Team national eliminations here. It is the first time to hold the national eliminations here in Cebu,” said Elvis Lee of Gaisano Bowlingplex in an interview with Sun.Star Cebu.

Team Philippines need to reinforce their team and with that they have one slot for male bowlers and two slots for female bowlers for upcoming tournaments in July and August.

The upcoming events will be the Asian Championships and the World Men’s Championships.

There will be 20 games in two days, 10 games will be played in long oil on Saturday and the remaining games will be on Sunday in short oil.

The top bowler of the men’s category and the top two of the women’s division will automatically join the national training pool.

To be eligible to join the eliminations the bowler must be a PBC member residing in the Visayas and Mindanao region, must have a Philippine passport and must be at least a graded bowler based on the latest PBC listing of Averages.

The registration fee for the event, which will be supervised by PBC’s executive vice-president Jaime Dychauco and tournament director Archie Bertez is P2,000 per player. (EKA)
