THE mayor of Dumanjug is asking the Visayas Swimming Association (Vissa) to help the town in its swimming program.
Vissa official Conrad Ceballos said that after holding a competition in Dumanjug last March 1 and 2, Mayor Cesar Baricuatro asked them to help their swimming program since the town has a good facility but lacked trainers or coaches to handle their swimmers.
Ceballos said that the town has an Olympic-sized swimming pool that can be used to train swimmers.
He said that after holding a Learn-to-Swim program in Talisay City next month, the group plans to return to Dumanjug to also conduct a swim clinic.
Ceballos believes there are potential swimmers in the town who can not afford to pay coaches or trainers who can enhance their skills and that’s why they will be back in the town to help them and also to promote the sport.
Aside from Talisay and Dumanjug, the group is also planning to conduct free clinics all over the province.
Ceballos said that the learn-to-swim program aims to discover potential swimmers who can represent their schools in future competitions. (NSM)
