Friday, March 14, 2008 Quijada: Summer Ready By Jadis Quijada Shout out
JUST this week, my chatmate asked me a fairly simple question, “What’s in this summer?”
There’s no easy answer to that. The weather has been temperamental, so those skin-baring summer dresses are sometimes guarded inside coats or other layers when a downpour requires. In heading to your summer destinations this Holy Week (already next week, by the way), you have to pack light and adequately.
A rather practical travel advice I picked up from my mother is leaving the bottles at home. This means that you don’t have to bring your regular size bottles of moisturizer, shampoo, facial wash for a two to three day trip. Save up on space and relieve some weight by buying sachet packs. Take the Dermplus Sunblock lotion which is available in the beauty section in department stores. And if in case you might leave these behind, it won’t hurt as much as leaving your monthly consumption in a bottle.
When it comes to packing up make-up, it’s also best to go for the liquid type as cake eye shadows and foundations can easily break while traveling. With the minimum makeup you’ll need in vacation places, you can go light with liquid foundations like Ever Bilena’s which come in smaller proportions at P160.
JELLY FEET, HOT SALE
Whether dipped in water or on hot, dry land, these jelly sandals are affordable solemates this summer. At Rusty Lopez, a pair costs less than P200 and you can collect them in different colors, with the wide variety that they’re available in. And for dressier nights, heeled jelly sandals are likewise available.
For other stuff you may take along with you on your next trip, you can fish them out from Robinsons Place Hot Summer Sale going on from March 14 to 16.
BLAIR HEADBAND PROJECT
Next to sideswept bangs, headbands are all over the place. Blame it (yet again) on Hollywood. Blair of the popular sitcom, Gossip Girls, is putting extra attention on these cute satin bow headbands which you can order online (http://xoxofashionxoxo.multiply.com/) or check out the mall bazaars for some Made in China counterparts.
