Friday, March 14, 2008 'Lost' sailor found in motel
THE American sailor declared missing by his superiors from the USNS supply vessel was found yesterday morning by the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) police, at the Prince Court motel.
CPA General Manager Angelo Verdan said the initial report he received said it appeared Jude Michael Guido was drugged because he fell asleep at the motel for nearly three days straight, from March 8-10.
CPA police officer Felix Angelo Quianzon said that Guido brought two women to the motel but only one was there when they tried to pick him up. The woman disappeared before she could be identified.
Since he had no more money and was very weak, he decided to stay while seeking help from his family in New York. His family wired him some cash.
Quianzon said they transferred Guido to another hotel while they arrange for the Global Shipping Corp. to bring him back to the US.
They coordinated with US Embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Cebu Chapter in looking for the sailor. (EOB)
