Inter-City caging finals on tonight

THE Lapu-Lapu City Chiefs will try to get the psychological edge over the Bogo Bogoys as the hunt for the first ever Cebu Inter-City Basketball title begins tonight with Game 1 of the best-of-three championship series at the Lapu-Lapu City Auditorium and Sports Complex.

Opening the hostilities is the knockout game for third place between the Talisay City Aquastars and the Danao City Pistoleros starting at 7 p.m.

Both the Chiefs and the Bogoys swept their respective semifinal opponents to set the stage to the richest basketball competition ever in the Philippine soil.

Tournament organizer Lorenzo “Chao” Sy announced that this tournament offers a total of P5 million worth of projects courtesy from countrywide development fund of Senate president Manny Villar.

The cham pion will receive P2 million worth of projects, the first runner-up will get P1.5million, the third placer will earn P700,000 and the fourth placer will get P300,000.

The two eliminated teams, Toledo City Dream Team and the Cebu City Niños will receive P250,000 each.

The Chiefs hold dominance over the Bogoys as the host team had an unblemished record in the elimination round.

However, the Bogoys of coach Hermes Sumalinog had dramatically improved their performance towards the championship game.

This game will also boil down to the scoring contest of the league’s two best scorers Jar Jar Degamo a local player out of Lapu-Lapu City and former USJ-R Jaguar Jun Ace Ursal of the Bogoys. (RCM)
