IN commemoration of the 51st death anniversary of former president Ramon Magsaysay, airsoft enthusiasts will be competing in military simulation missions today at Brgy. Gaas in the “Battle for Manunggal Pass.”
Ten teams gear up four tactical missions for the bragging rights of who will be the best airsoft team in Cebu City.
The game simulates a rescue mission in which they must save a downed Philippine Air Force pilot who was captured by a drug syndicate.
Each team must come up with the best and quickest strategy to infiltrate and rescue the pilot, who is locked up right smack at the heart of the drug den.
The terrain in which they will execute their mission covers some eight hectares near the Regional Training Camp of the Philippine National Police, which is also fielding their own team.
Each team will face the same missions and will encounter enemies called Opfor which stands for opposing forces.
The war games will start at 8 p.m.
The champion, first place and the second placer will be given recognition prizes. Trophies will also be handed out to the best tactical team and the team with the best uniform.
The awarding, which also features a concert, takes place at night.
There will also be a photo contest in which contestants will take pictures of the action and the landscape.
The “51st Paghandum ni Magsaysay” is organized by Gama, an eco tourism group in Mt. Manunggal. EKA
