Speak Out: Cry for justice
By Christine B. Parohinog

ON Dec. 11, 2007, at 5:30 p.m., six pickpockets stole my wallet containing P27,000.

I jumped off the jeepney and ran to a group of barangay tanods who helped me arrest four of the pickpockets. The money was not with them but they admitted the crime.

We brought them to the police, which filed my complaint at the fiscal’s office the next day.

The fiscal subsequently filed the case in court, which scheduled the arraignment on March 14, 2008. I went to court as scheduled but upon arriving there I was casually informed by a clerk that the court has postponed the arraignment to June 11, 2008.

In the meantime, two of the accused are scot-free after posting a bail of only P20,000.00 each without my knowledge.
