Mayor's Office wins

THE Mayor’s Office kept the badminton title of the recently concluded Cebu City Inter-Department Badminton Tournament 2008 held at the Cebu City Sports Center Badminton courts.

The Mayor’s Office men’s squad, composed of Danny Villagracia, Tony Suizo and Andrew Cuenca overwhelmed the other departments of the Cebu City Hall for its second badminton title in a row.

Villagracia defeated Conrado Ordesta III of the Management Information Computer Services (Mics) in the finals of the Men’s Single via 21-15 and 21-14 decision while the tandem of Suizo and Cuenca handed Harold Alcontin and Rafael Ruben Lucay also of the Mics with a 21-18; 21-7 manhandling to win the Men’s doubles title.

Mics wound up as the runner-up of the Mayor’s Office. Mics team was composed of William Cris Artajo, Ordesta, Lugay and Alcontin.

The Budge Department on the other hand won the third place finish while the Department of Public Services placed fourth.

Luisito Abenola won the first singles for Budget following his 15-21; 21-19; 21-9 victory over Ritchie Bordadora but the tandem of Arsenio Uy Jr. and Edmund Leyson won DPS the doubles title following a 21-16; 18-21; 21-13 win over Elmer Caña and Danny Cortez of Budget.

Budget however, regained their bearings as Caña defeated Leyson 21-10 and 21-13 in the second singles to claim the third place finish.

The Budget team was composed of Luisito Abenoja, Elmar Caña, Danny Cortez and Roman Tura while DPS was made up of Ritchie Bordadora, Edmund Leyson, Arsenio Uy Jr., and Norman Del Mar. (RCM)
