To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Cebu, a grand event is in the offing; We were welcomed by the Parish committee president, Louie Nacorda (who was also the emcee of the presscon) and the generous personalities who are involved in such a mammoth undertaking: the Proposed Rectory building by Arch’t. Paul Cuestas and Engr. Eric Obieres.
The opening salvo was a fabulously generous donation by Pacific Online Systems Corp, represented by its president, Willy Ocier. Also very supportive was William Medici, Cebu Head of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. Very visible were top honchos from Smart-PLDT and Globe. How can one possibly go wrong with these high-end sponsors!
On behalf of Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, auxiliary Bishop Julito Cortes gave a warm exprerssion of gratitude and Louie Nacorda was encouraged by such an act of generosity, completion date. In time for the fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe- Dec. 11!

Six years ago, Socorro Cermeno Valencia returned to Cebu from The Land of Uncle Sam and being of a charitable disposition, immediately founded Cebu Volunteers for Charity Movement (CVCM).
Well the rest is history for last week, CVCM celebrated its sixth anniversary amidst a simple dinner and awarding ceremonies at Casino Español de Cebu.
After a welcome address by president Ester Acero, foundress Socorro (Coring for short) traced the growth of the organization, and awarded its pillars with appropriate tokens: Paulina Tiu for loyalty; Trinidad Modina, best performance as treasurer; and Nito Flores, loyalty to CVCM. As a gesture of the club’s fund-raising efforts, a donation was made to Father Danilo Sanico.
Well, dear members, we shall look forward to Year Seven!
