Body of 'torched' man found in Talisay bry.

A BODY of a young man was torched and dumped at a vacant grassy lot in the hilly village of Maghaway, Talisay City yesterday.

Lawmen arrived at the scene minutes after a Maghaway resident discovered the remains of the victim around 6 a.m. He was found lying on his back.

Police said the perpetrators hogtied the victim and wrapped his face with a cloth. They also noticed traces of blood, indicating that he was dragged into the dumping site.

Radio dyAB reported that the site was only 10 meters away from the roadside and the nearest residential house.

Lawmen could not determine if the killing and dumping was done late Tuesday night or early yesterday dawn.

Commotion

Maghaway residents also reportedly failed to notice any commotion or persons setting a blaze in the area.

But homicide investigators believed the assailants had already killed the victim somewhere else before he was dumped and set his body on fire with kerosene.

Only the middle part of his body was burned, as his lower extremities and face remained intact.

Blue jeans

Responding policemen described the man as 5’2” tall and in his early 20’s. He was wearing a pair of blue jeans and a pair of white socks. He had no shoes.

Apart from the policemen, City Health Office Chief Lino Alanzado also went to the scene.

The body was taken to St. Francis Funeral Homes in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City. (GC)
