Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Masked man preys on LPG dealership
A STORE selling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was robbed by a masked man last Sunday in Mandaue City.
Subangdaku Police Chief Eddie Castañeda said the 6:40 p.m. robbery took place inside Cebu Gazland on Hernan Cortes Ave. near the Subangdaku flyover.
A man barged into the shop wearing a “ninja-style” mask, and pointed his gun at storekeeper Gino Unibia, 22, who at that time was eating dinner.
The robber, described as heavy built, with a dark complexion and standing about 5’4”, took the store’s earnings worth P9,086 and Unibia’s cellular phone before casually walking away.
Fruitless search
Unibia immediately called the storeowner, Dickson Yu, 28, single of Cabantan St., in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, who in turn called up police.
The robber, according to Unibia, was wearing a long-sleeved maroon shirt.
Castañeda immediately directed his men to look for the robber in Sitio Malibu, a highly populated area near the store where a number of criminal elements reportedly stay.
He said suspected cop-killer Lauro Jogro Lumapas and his alleged cohorts are also from the sitio.
Lumapas allegedly shot dead SPO1 Pedro Sucion when the policeman responded to a robbery the suspects staged.
Since the robber of the LPG store made sure to cover his face, it showed that he was afraid of being recognized. That means he might live in the area, Castañeda said. (OCP)
