Siso notches two wins in Asian U-14 Championships second leg

AFTER a passable finish in the first leg of the International Tennis Federation Asian Under-14 Championship 2008 showed some kind of recovery as she started off fighting in the first day of the second leg yesterday at the Pusat Tenis Kemayoran courts in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Siso, supported by University of San Carlos, Dunlop, Casino Tennis Club, Commonwealth Estate Inc., Collinwood and Woodcrest Residences, notched two victories yesterday.

Siso’s first win was a hard-earned three-setter victory over a local netter and the other one from the doubles contest, where she is paired with teammate Shanine Olivarez.

In the singles competition, Siso had to pass through the eye of the needle before thwarting Indonesia’s Evita Fe Hapsari, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Hapsari had failed to defeat Siso in their second encounter. The last time was in the first leg last week, when Siso won in two short sets against the Indonesian foe.

In the doubles contest, Siso and Olivarez continue their dominance over Malaysian netters. The Filipino duos defeated Theviya Selvarajoo and Adelle Boey, 6-1, 6-2.

Siso had encountered Selvarajoo many times before, specifically last year in the Malaysian tennis circuit last December, where the Malaysian could never find an answer to Siso’s lethal blows.

Last week, Siso had a satisfactory finish in the singles contest with two wins and two losses and one win in the doubles event. (MCB)
