Cop sued for 'biased' accident report

A FOREIGNER and his Filipina wife filed a criminal and administrative complaint against a traffic policeman who allegedly issued a biased report on a collision involving their car and a jeepney.

Robert and Estela Corliss, in an affidavit, said SPO1 Dionisio Almaden Galo of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Traffic Group made it appear that they broadsided the jeepney driven by Ramil Banqueso Misa.

Records identify the vehicle owner as Rhoda Gecel Hisoler of Maria Luisa Estate Park in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

The Corliss couple stressed, however, that the damage to their Suzuki APV showed that they were the ones hit on the right side of the hood.

They attached a copy of the report Galo made of the March 19 incident.

Robert, in his affidavit of complaint, described Galo as “arrogant and highhanded” when he conducted the investigation at the Traffic Division Office.

He said Galo won’t listen to them when they narrated their version of what happened.

Robert said he tried to ask Galo to amend the police report but the latter refused and instead asked him to sign a temporary operator’s permit. (KNR)
