Battle of the imports

MANILA—After two playing dates, it’s now Philippine Cup finalists Sta. Lucia Realty and Purefoods TJ Giants’ turn to display their respective imports as they meet separate opponents today in the resumption of the 2008 PBA Fiesta Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Realtors, aiming to be the first team after several decades to win back-to-back championships, tangle against the equally dangerous Alaska Aces in the first match at 4:50 p.m., while the Giants collide against sister team Magnolia Beverage Masters in the second game at 7:20 p.m.

Wesley Wilson, a 6-foot-10 center-forward from Georgetown University in New York, will don the Realtors jersey, while the Aces will parade Randy Holcomb, a 6-foot-8 forward from the San Diego State University in California.

“It’s going to be a very interesting match-up between our respective imports. I hope we could do well with Wesley Wilson,” said Sta. Lucia coach Boyet Fernandez, who just won the recently-concluded 2008 Philippine Cup via a thrilling 4-3 score over Purefoods last February. (FCC)
