Summer capoeira program offered

WANT a cool activity to enjoy this summer?

Capoeira (pronounced kap-oh-wer-ah), a 500 year old Brazilian martial arts and dance form that is rapidly spreading around the world and has now reached Cebu.

Expose oneself to diverse activities this summer aside from the usual activities one often experience during regular school days.

Capoeira blends rhythm, music, song, kicks into a unique Brazilian cultural art that will firm up the arms, helps in weight lose, and makes one healthier through singing, dancing, kicking, jumping, shouting and laughing.

Exercise is a safe, positive environment with an experienced professional instructor who has taught all around Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia and Singapore.

The instructor, Jensen Go Chow, a balikbayan who spent a year in Brazil learning Capoeira, takes pride in being able to tailor exercises to each individual’s age and level of fitness. “Most of all, health and fitness shouldn’t feel like a discipline, and Capoeira is above all else, lots of fun!” said Instructor Jensen.

Jensen was the Brazilian Capoeira Super league’s Asia Pacific Capoeira Champion, and has set up academies in Australia, Thailand, Indonesia.

One may show his or her school or college/university ID for the special summer rates for April and May. If one brings a friend both of them will only pay P2,400. And if one brings three friends then one can train for free. The normal rates are P350 per class, so the summer rates represent great savings. First class is free until April 20 if one is new to Capoeira.

Register in advance as slots are limited. Visit their website www.capoeira.ph for more photos, information and videos. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Center, D Jakosalem St, Cebu. One may also send email to info@capoeira.ph.
