Speak Out: Nursing exams
By Defcel L. Inocando

I WAS one of the passers of the controversial June 2006 nursing board exam.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to retake the exams last December 2007 as I failed to meet the deadline for the registration.

There was no proper dissemination of information on the deadline of the filing thus many of us failed to retake the board exams last December.

We are planning to take again the examinations in June to erase the stigma and doubts hounding the June 2006 board passers.

We will be taking a risk as we will be surrendering our hard-earned licenses.

However, when we went to the Professional Regulations Commission office to file the registration, we were told that we could not do it yet because the Board of Nursing (BON) is still deliberating on the guidelines for the retakers.

The deadline for the filing of registration is April 11, 2008, meaning, there are only seven remaining days before the filing deadline.

Those not yet allowed to file their registration for the board exam in June not only includes those who failed to take the exams last December but also those who retook the exam but was not able to pass.

We are hoping and praying for the BON to act on this matter as soon as possible.
