Saturday, April 05, 2008 Tourney for young keglers in Visayas
TODAY, there will be a bowling extravaganza dedicated to the young bowlers of the Visayas.
The Philippine Junior Bowlers (PJB) will be competing in the Visayas Region’s 1st Quarter Bowling Tournament at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.
In this bowling tournament, there will be four categories available for both genders, the Bantam, Juniors, Majors and Collegiate Divisions
For the Bantam Division only youths that were born from 1997 to 2002 are eligible to join while for the Juniors class will be from 1994 to 1996 and 1990 to 1993 for the Majors category, while the Collegiate division will be from 1986 to 1989.
PJB aims “to train and improve youth bowlers by scientific method of training, to bring back glory to the country by winning in Asian and World Youth Championship, encourage all bowling association in promoting youth bowling to increase youth membership and create more youth coaches to implement PJB program to cater nationwide.”
PJB is spearheaded by their chairman and founder Peping Cojuanco, who was once a congressman, alongside Japanese Madoka Amado, the head coach, and senior coaches Angelo Constatino, Botchock Rey and Marcus Reyes.
Previously the young keglers of the Philippines were under Philippine Bowling Congress until last January when the young bowlers age 23 years old and below are now under the PJB.
The registration for this event will start at 6 p.m. and the roll off will be an hour after. (EKA)
