Every year, Cebuano turned California resident Don Calvo never fails to attend this particular golf tournament at the Cebu Country Club. “Poor” better-half, Nedda, has to become a temporary golf-widow, as she has no choice. But this year, Don brought along his wife, to celebrate her red-letter day among close friends from the Bukas Loob Community and Rotary club of metro Cebu (RCMC). The venue was the Casino Espanol de Cebu, where Holy Mass, officiated by Father Ramon Ofredo, SJ, preceded the celebration.Conversation piece was the birthday cakes (yes, plural) arranged on three levels, with a single candle on each. Whatever Nedda wished for, we know it was granted. Let the photos tell you more about the event!

It was really timely that Texas-based Theresian, Rita Atillo-Almero, dropped by Cebu when she did, as their class HS 1960 was feverishly mapping out their 50th anniversary in 2010. Get together was held at the Jarantilla residence of class member Elena Du. J. Another tete-a-tete is planned for tomorrow, April 11 to say so long to Rita.

Theresians all over the country are mourning the demise of beloved Sister Jo De Los Reyes, ICM, Mother directress of St. Theresa’s Cebu, who also had assignments in Adamson University in Manila and Baguio City. Sister Jo, as she is fondly called, succumbed to water in the lungs, at the Queen of Peace Convent in Banawe, Quezon City last April 2. Her burial, attended by many teachers, students and parents, was April 5. Sister Jo is the daughter of Jose De Los Reyes and the former Dafrosa Nolan.
She is survived by a sister-in-law Corrie (i.e. wife of Sister Jo’s late brother, Cesar), and Corrie's daughter Lisa and her husband David Forbes, all California residents.
Sister Jo belonged to STC HS 1949 and college 1953. Holy Mass for quarenta dias ("40 days after burial") will be offered in STC-Cebu.
