Speak out: Plea from an old GSIS pensioner
By Amparo C. Reyes
Cardinal Rosales Ave., Cebu City

THIS is a reaction to the “Talk Back” letter sent by Ella C. Valencerina titled “GSIS Pension not withheld.” I would like to share my own experience.

I received regularly my monthly pension for several years until GSIS changed the system using the E-Card. I got my E-Card Plus in the second quarter of 2007.

Unfortunately, as of this writing, I still have to receive my pension. If it is not being withheld, then what would you call the long period of waiting, or almost ten months starting August, 2007, to get my pension?

Even if I already complied with the yearly Renewal of Active Status process and after a series of follow-ups at the local office of GSIS, all I have gotten has been their reply that my case was already sent to Manila and the central office has the final action.

They cannot, in their capacity, give assurance on how long the waiting will be.

The Commission on Audit or the “veracity of figures” being mentioned is beyond me but it will make sense if only they will let go the suspended ten months of my monthly pension and save me from further physical and emotional stress.

I am an octogenarian who has been in and out of the doctor’s clinic and has thereby no more stamina to face this predicament that is not of our own doing and is beyond my comprehension.

If I may, I beg for your humanitarian consideration that this my plea may reach the ears of people that listen.
