Siso starts training for China stint

WITH still a month to go, Sally Mae Siso’s summer vacation has ended and it is time for the 14-year-old to get back to work.

Siso, the tennis stalwart from Cebu, is flying back to Manila today, to end her weeklong vacation at home.

She has a busy week ahead as she will be competing in the Hilado Cup competition set tomorrow at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Courts, where she will also be inserting her training with the national youth team for their upcoming campaign in China on April 20.

Before the school year ended, Siso skipped her finals exam and the chance to compete in the Palarong Pambansa to join two competitions of the International Tennis Federation 14-Under Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she finished 12th.

When she got back to the country, she then proceeded with a campaign in the Truflex Tennis Tournament and took the crown in the Girls 14-Under division.

Before the Truflex finals, Siso once more received an invitation to play for the country in another competition, this time in China. Training and competing became a regular routine for Siso.

She only went back home to Cebu the other Sunday to complete her academic requirements and to spend one week at home before returning to her busy schedule in Manila today. (MCB)
