UV scrabble team holds tournament to seek replacement

THE University of the Visayas Green Wizards of Coach Marsha Malbas in coordination with the UV Athletics Department will be holding practice games in all Saturdays of May to look for a replacement for the vacant positions left by two of their best scrabble players.

All the games will be held at the Green Wizards quarters beside the UV Gym, Malbas said.

“This games are staged to determine the force of our 2008 lineup after two of our best players, Teodoro Martus Jr., and Rolly Navarro, graduated from college last month,” said Malbas.

She said his is also part of their preparation for coming tournaments since other schools are getting better in the sport. like the University of San Carlos which she considers as their toughest opponent now in every school-based tournament.

Malbas said the games are for all UV scrabble players, high school and college, but non-UV participants are still welcome to join but they have to pay P50 for the registration, which will be used for giving their prizes.

UV players who will join will only pay the P20 registration fee, she said.

All the players will be playing King-of-the Hill format with eight rounds in every Saturday, she said

The games will start on May 3 and will have its culmination on May 31, when a in recognition for all the winners. (NSM)
