CIDG7 arrests brothers in Lipata for ‘selling’ shabu
SEVERAL suspected shabu packs, marijuana stalks, and drug sniffing paraphernalia were confiscated by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 operatives in a Barangay Upper Lipata, Minglanilla, Cebu raid at dawn yesterday.
The operation also led to the arrest of Jose Antonio Obanque, 36, and his brother Jose Elpidio, 35.
Both men admitted engaging in the illegal drug trade for four months now, saying they are financially hard up.
The CIDG first implemented the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) 7 Executive Judge Fortunato de Gracia Jr. on Jose Antonio at 5 a.m.
Two small packs of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, a medium pack of dried marijuana, five marijuana stalks, assorted drug sniffing paraphernalia, a Nokia cellular phone, and P850 cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of drugs were found in his house.
Jose Elpidio allegedly attempted to escape through the back door, but was arrested by SPO1 Willard Selibio.
Paraphernalia
A pencil box found in Jose Elpidio’s possession contained a small pack of suspected shabu and shabu sniffing paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, a separate CIDG 7 operation in Poblacion, Danao City around 2:30 p.m. last Tuesday led to the confiscation of two .45 pistols, four .45 pistol magazines, three pieces of revolver cylinders, and one small box containing assorted gun spare parts.
RTC Judge Ramon Codilla issued the search warrant against Reynaldo Bayo, alias Naldo, who managed to escape. (JST)
