Monday, April 21, 2008 Lapu council rejects 2 proposals by SK
THE Lapu-Lapu City Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (SKF) has failed to convince City officials to fund its two projects.
The City Council considered the proposal to create a youth development commission and the setting up of a youth information desk in all barangays duplications of the SK and its functions.
The council also advised the SK not to depend so much on the city.
The SKF considered the two projects “catalysts” for the youth’s social and political development and in safeguarding their rights.
SKF president Reymar Dico said the City had a Youth Development Commission (YDC) before, but the body became inactive for lack of funds.
That prompted him to propose the construction of a YDC building and allot funds for operational expanses.
He also wanted the creation of a youth information desk in all 30 city barangays, and drafted an ordinance asking for funding from the City. (AIV)
