3 suspected robbers fall in Mandaue raid

A raid inside a hospital compound in Mandaue City led to the arrest of three suspected robbers and seizure of unlicensed guns and illegal drugs.

With a warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Judge Wilfredo Dagatan, several teams of Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) operatives simultaneously searched seven houses at the Eversley Children’s Sanitarium in Barangay Jagobiao around 4:45 p.m.

PO3 Ramil Morpos said they arrested Dindo B. Ombao, 22, of Sitio San Antonio; Agripino Barril, 38, also of San Antonio; and Romero Mejias Jr., 22, of Sitio Sto. Rosario.

Morpos said they recovered a .38 revolver from Mejias’ house and a paltik .38 revolver from Barril’s place.

Aside from the gun, police also confiscated from Barril an unregistered blue motorcycle, which bolstered their suspicion that the three men were involved in a series of robberies using the motorcycle.

Morpos said that although the houses are inside the Eversley compound, the occupants are not employees of the government hospital.

Senior Insp. Marvin de Paz said they also seized from inside Mejias’ house three disposable syringes, bundles of rolled tissue papers, shabu sniffing paraphernalia with traces of suspected shabu, seven empty plastic packs with traces of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, ammunitions, and a cellphone.

Two cellphone units, 23 packs of suspected shabu, several P500 bills, and bullets for a .38 revolver and a 45 pistol were also found inside Ombao’s home.

The police are inviting victims of robbers on motorcycles to visit Basak Police Station to identify Ombao, Barril, and Mejias. (OCP)
