Haya to battle Santillanosa in Bantayan

AFTER defeating veteran Pedro Malco in March 7, ALA fighter Weng Haya will face journeyman Ruben Santillanosa at the Bantayan Multipurpose Center in island of Bantayan on April 26.

Haya will be put to a test once again to find out whether he really deserves to fight bigger fights with more superior opponents.

Michael Aldeguer, ALA Promotions president, believes that for Haya to move up to the next level he should make this fight a walk in the park.

“For Weng to reach to the next level he should make this an easy fight,” Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

Haya has a record of 9 wins 1 loss with 5 wins via knockout and is rated 13th in the Philippines in the super bantamweight category, while Santillosa of Libak, Sultan Kudarat has a record of 8 wins and 16 losses and 1 draw with 5 knockouts.

Santillanosa has been through a lot of skirmishes and a few championship matches. He also fought for the vacant International Boxing Organization Asia Pacific title against undefeated Australian rising star Bill Dib (18-0, 9 KO’s) who will be facing World Boxing Council featherweight titleholder Jorge Linares (25-0, 16 KOs).

In the undercard, it will be Davao against Bantayan Island as Michael Otic of Madridejos will defend his turf against Jaylo Merlin of Quimbao Stable in Davao, Albert Villacampa of Hilontungan will trade leathers with Samuel Capagngan of Quimbao Stable and Yao Ming of Atop-Atopi will fight with Mark Maguan.

A string of amatuer bouts will also start at 8 p.m. (EKA with PR)
