Smart-Bacani free tennis clinic starts today

Butch Bacani, one of the country’s top tennis coaches, will start the Smart/Butch Bacani Summer Tennis Camp at the Casino Español de Cebu tennis courts today.

Bacani, a former RP Davis Cup captain who has been coaching for the past 30 years, is in Cebu with former RP top 10 player Johann Guba. They’ll be assisted by two of Cebu’s top players, Michael and Jaime Quiñones.

There are three categories open to all: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. The Beginners category will run from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The Intermediate is 9:30 to 11:30 and the Advanced, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

This tennis camp is open to all for free. All that parents and the children need to present is a Smart SIM card and they’re eligible to participate in this program that will run for four weeks and end on May 17.

Butch Bacani is one of RP’s top names in tennis coaching. Back in 1971, Jacinto N. Bacani graduated with an Economics degree at UP. After graduation, he taught as a professor at U.P. for four years before working as Manager at Cummins Diesel. He eventually quit the corporate world to resume his passion—tennis.

All interested in joining may proceed to Casino Español anytime today or tomorrow to register. The program will run until May 17.(PR)
