Five squads share Pacman lead

FIVE teams share the temporary lead after the first day of the Kadaugan sa Mactan: First Pacman Airsoft Close Quarter Battle Competition at Mactan Central School yesterday.

Event manager Doris Mongaya of PR Works yesterday said Trident Knights, RAS-Red Arm Stallion, MAG-Mandaue Airsoft Group, Deep Recon and the EMC, are on top in the competition after they accomplished an average of four to five games in the first day.

However, Mongaya said the results of the teams’ number of wins and their times were not yet available at press time yesterday as they were still tabulating it.

Trident Knights team leader Gerald Ocampo yesterday said that team work was the key factor for giving them the temporary lead in the competition.

“Our strategy was basically to reinforce our right flank, where most of the team members were fielded, then hold at the left flank, where we left only two persons, to wipe out our opponents within five minutes,” said Ocampo.

Ocampo said that they will adopt the same strategy today but they will concentrate at their left to outflank their opponents.

On the other hand, the Deep Recon team led by Ian Baldonasa set the lowest time in the competition—two minutes and 42 seconds—in the first game against an undermanned foe.

Baldonasa said because Judeans Airsoft Group came only with three members, they managed to post such fast time.

“Our goal is just to play the game and show sportsmanship to our fellow competitors,” Baldonasa said.

On the other hand, Team EMCs adopted a different approach in their effort to post a shorter time.

“We are not engaging a war against our opponents since our objective is to avoid them, but if the CQB red zone, where the bomb is placed, is heavily guarded, then that’s the time we engage them and as much as possible we will take them down so that they could not get out, that’s how we work as a team,” said assistant team leader Fred Ignacio.

The competition, which attracted 10 teams of 15 members each, presents different missions teams must accomplish in 10 minutes.

Teams must also deal with an opposing during their mission. (NSM)
