IT was a victorious day for Queen City United as they bagged three lopsided wins in three different categories in the second day of the week long 8th Inter-Club Football Cup tournament yesterday at the University of San Carlos Technology Center and San Roque football fields.
In the Men’s Open, Queen City United (QCU) dominated over College United, 5-0.
At first, the teams were on equal footing but in the 30th minute Mitso Tsunakiri broke away from the College United defense and drew first blood to give QCU a 1-0 first half lead.
In the second half, off the QCU bench, Fr. Gregory Plus scored a second goal in the 47th minute for a 2-0 advantage. He then added another goal nine minutes after.
In the 84th minute Julius Acre scored another goal for QCU with a header coming off from a bounce from the goal post.
Rommel Cuizon then sealed the victory with a strike in the waning seconds of the game.
Trampled
Earlier in a game of both QCU teams in the 38-above category, QCU-A trampled QCU-B, 5-0, in what was an identical score from their younger counterparts.
It was the tandem of Glenn Ramos and Renato Yap that won QCU-A the victory as both players scored two goals apiece for their team.
Yap scored the first goal for QCU-A in the 31st minute of regulation then Ramos added a quick goal a minute after.
Ramos struck in the 43rd minute for his second goal for a 3-0 commanding lead for his team.
Vivo Castaños of QCU-A increased the lead with a header in the 59th minute of the game then Yap scored his second goal three minutes after for the 5-0 victory.
Meanwhile, the QCU women’s team destroyed the Melbourne FC in a 6-0 victory.
Rose Ton Bariñan and Marlou Solon headed the QCU women’s team with two goals each while Rene Songalia and Courtney Canque added one goal apiece.
Games
Other games played yesterday from the Men’s Open category: FC Inter Cebu (FCIC) defeated Dipolog FC 2-1. Scorers for FCIC were John Paul Arrangeuz and John Micheal Flores while Vincent Gambana scored the lone goal for the visiting Dipolog FC.
San Roque Royal United (SRRU) crushed Nasipit FC, 8-1. Harry Bordalba scored a hat trick for SRRU while teamates Adrian Mejaran, Arlon Sabal, Jonkoi Menaling, Ronald Cañas and Arnel Catalan scored a goal apiece. Ronan Ranoco scored the only goal for Nasipit FC.
Pinoysoccer.com edged Davao Seagull FC, 4-3.
In the Women’s Open category, Turnbout destroyed Science High/ CSAT 7-0.
In the 15-under category, Ciudad drew with CIC FC 1-1, Springdale won against Sacred Heart Jesuits 3-1, Abellana-Pomeroy annihilated FC Inter Lapu-Lapu 22-0.
In the 12-under category Springdale edeged Sacred Heart Jesuits, 2-1. Clarito Ijo and Adrian Pelineo scored for Springdale while Darren Ramos for Sacred Heart.
Pomeroy was victorious against Sta. Rita 3-0. Ronnel Cuizon, Kennedy Cuizon and Mark Arranguez scored for Pomeroy.
San Roque crushed Ramika 5-1. Lawrence Colina scored the hattrick for SRFC while teammate Richard Ruby added two goals. Jeboy Sanchez scored the only goal for Ramika.
Canduman won via forfeit against FC Inter Cebu. (EKA)
