2 PB members want cop lauded for foiling robbery

TWO provincial officials want to commend SPO1 Meliton Agadier Jr. for his participation in the foiled bank robbery that happened in Carcar City, Cebu last April 28.

Provincial Board Members Juan Bolo and Julian Daan, both representing the first district, penned separate resolutions praising Agadier.

Bolo also commended the men of Carcar Police Station, under the command of Supt. Teofilo Siclot, for their bravery in responding to the robbery of the Rural Bank of Cebu South.

“Such act of bravery and heroism deserve to be commended as it brings inspiration to all of us to defend and serve our constituents,” read Bolo’s resolution, which is expected to be tackled during the regular session tomorrow.

Daan’s resolution also sought to include SPO1 Kenneth Abella in the commendation.

Call of duty

“The bravery and heroic deed of the two policemen, risking their lives for the sake of the call of duty, deserve our utmost commendation and praise and worth emulating by those who are sworn to serve and protect the community,” read Daan’s resolution.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia also commended the responding operatives the day after the incident occurred.

Agadier shot suspect Nelson Igoy Gutierrez Jr. in the chest while the latter was holding bank employee Kashii Apostol hostage during the incident. Apostol ducked, giving Agadier a clear sight of the suspect’s chest. Abella covered Agadier as the latter engaged Gutierrez.

Gutierrez’s companion Ricoly Igoy was also wounded.

Swift action

Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Carmelo Valmoria and Carcar City Mayor Patrick Barcenas praised the officers for their swift action, and assured that appropriate rewards will be given.

Barcenas plans to give cash rewards to all 24 officers who took part in the operation while Valmoria said he will recommend that the policemen be given awards by the Police Regional Office 7.

Agadier has already been awarded twice for arrests he made in Cebu City while off duty.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña also offered to endorse Agadier for promotion and offered to give him a house in Cebu City, if Agadier wants to be transferred. (JGA)
