Valmoria to stations: Post accomplishments outside precincts

RATHER than wait to be interviewed by the press, all Cebu Province police chiefs should post their weekly accomplishments outside their stations.

Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Carmelo Valmoria, in last Friday’s Tapok-Tapok sa KIA forum, said he made the order for everybody to know if the police stations have been doing their duties against lawless elements.

“They should not wait for the opportunity to be interviewed by the media. People in the towns would see that what their police officers are doing,” he said.

Valmoria said he wanted the public to know that police officers in the towns and cities are working and not just waiting for crimes to happen within their jurisdiction.

He said the posting of a scoreboard should show each station’s accomplishments on the Philippine National Police’s flagship programs, which include arresting persons, filing cases, seizing evidence and conducting of operations.

The flagship programs are police operations against non-index crimes.

They include illegal gambling; illegal drugs; loose firearms; violations of environmental laws such as illegal fishing, illegal logging, and extraction of sand and gravel; and the campaign against wanted persons. (MEA)
