Lim posts fastest time in Mandaue Invitational Drag Race

CEBUANO ace driver David G. Lim stamped his status as one of the country’s top driver after winning the Quick 8 Open and the fastest car in the 1st Manduae Festival Run Invitational Drag Race held at the Mandaue City Reclamation Area.

Just a week after taking Manila by storm, collecting seven trophies in the Autocross Challenge held at the Clark Expo in Pampanga, Lim again showed his winning performance after topping the most prestigious run—the Quick 8 Competition to win another overall title.

Riding in his popular Honda Civic EG chopped-top and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, Lim rode the 1/8 mile in just 6.8 and 6.5 seconds, respectively, to earn the best times of the race.

The race track was shorter than the usual quarter-mile race, but still it gave the drivers the same adrenalin rush from the start to the finish line.

Lim opted to use his chopped-top car in the final run, while using his Evo 8 to settle for third place after his two cars topped the elimination round at the No.1 and No.2 position.

Just like the past races at the South Reclamation Project, the Mandaue drag race attracted many out-of-town drivers, including some of the best drivers from Manila.

The victory was Lim’s sixth overall title in less than a year.

He reset the Philippine’s fastest car record in June last year with his Honda Civic EG chopped-top.

The complete list of the winners in the other categories were not yet available at press time last night since the Motorcycle races were still being held. (RCM)
