Thursday, May 08, 2008 Red Bull Barakos gore Sta. Lucia, 105-78
MANILA - Leomar Najorda, Cyrus Baguio and import Adam Parada combined for a big 52 points as the Red Bull Barakos crushed Sta. Lucia Realty, 105-78, yesterday to regain their hold of the lead in the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Barakos found the Realtors’ defense an easy prey of their run-and-gun rampage anchored on 7-foot import Adam Parada and steered by small men Cyrus Baguio and Topex Robinson.
“We played good defense today. I think the key is we were able to stop Kelly Williams and Ryan Reyes during the match. We were expecting a good game from Sta. Lucia but we were able to put up just a good defense,” said Red Bull coach Yeng Guiao.
Despite the lopsided win by Red Bull, however, it cost coach Yeng Guiao’s ire as Parada, along with Sta. Lucia import Wesley Wilson, were ejected due to a flagrant foul-1 after an altercation with only 3:45 remaining.
“I don’t think Adam Parada deserved the ejection. He just reacted instinctively. For no reason at all, he was hit by the other import. And it is normal to react in that situation. He was provoked,” added Guiao.
The hard offense is expected to draw a one-game suspension for Parada, who will miss Red Bull’s game against Welcoat on May 14. (FCC)
