IT company tackles Toledo mine’s system

AN affiliate of Fujitsu Ltd. of Japan, Fujitsu Philippines Inc. prides itself as a systems integrator offering to bring together “the best of technology.”

Raul Santiago III, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said that unlike other solutions company in the market, Fujitsu—as a systems integrator—do not just sell equipment.

“We provide a complete solution to our clients,” he said during a visit to Atlas Mining compound in Toledo City last Thursday.

Fujitsu won the bid to work on Carmen Copper Corp.’s (CCC) information and communication technology project.

Partners

The network system that Fujitsu put up at CCC has a giga-bit capacity to receive and send data requests within the company’s network.

Santiago said that based on the requirement of the mining company, Fujitsu has tapped Cisco and NetApp as its technology partners in the project.

Fujitsu and Cisco provided the switches and servers while NetApp took care of the data storage software.

With about P11 million worth of equipment at CCC, Gerry Tecson, Fujitsu’s account manager for the Visayas and Mindanao business (VMB) unit, said CCC is now considered as one its biggest clients.

With its “complete” VMB office located in Cebu, Santiago said Fujitsu will be able to provide continuing support to its clients in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Cebu-based clients of Fujitsu account for five percent of the company’s total revenues in the country. Since last year,
Fujitsu started to get clients from Cagayan de Oro and Davao.

Santiago said that although Fujitsu does not spend as much as other companies on marketing, it offers high-end equipment that perform equally well as those of its competitors.

The company, said Santiago, does not focus on one particular industry but its major clients are from the telecommunications and manufacturing sectors. “We look at all various industries where we can provide horizontal
solutions,” he added.

Aside from systems integration, Fujitsu also offers consulting services, information technology infrastructure management and solutions. Its product line includes hardware for financial systems, servers and storage systems, as well as telecommunications solutions. (DME)
