Saturday, May 10, 2008 Barrita: Reclamation By Eddie O. Barrita Small Bites
LAPU-LAPU City is pushing for a P10-billion reclamation at the northern entrance to the Mactan Channel and directly across Liloan and Mandaue City.
Capitol officials are however against this project.
Well, if Mandaue and Cebu cities have their reclamation projects, why can’t Lapu-Lapu have one too?
***
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza may have learned from Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña.
He must have viewed with envy the South Road Properties, a P6-billion 295-hectare piece of unsold prime real estate.
***
Mayor Osmeña has named his anointed bets for mayor and vice mayor – the tandem of Vice Mayor Mike Rama and Joy Augustus Young.
It looks like Mike Rama is it if he keeps his silence.

Posting bail proved fatal to bank robbery suspect Recolly Igoy.
Two others before him, Brando Babao and Rodulfo Atega Jr., a suspected member of the dreaded Casimiro “Meloy” Garcia Robbery Group, were mowed down in a hail of bullets, also after posting bail.
They would have been safe behind bars.
***
Cebu Provincial Police Director Carmelo Valmoria said Igoy was eyed as state witness who can finger other members of his group.
I thought the state protects its witnesses.
***
Mandaue City Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna found it “insulting and demeaning” to the City Council for Miss Mandaue bets to enter the session hall clad only in skimpy bikinis.
Worse, he and the councilors weren’t there to tell them bikinis were not allowed in the session hall.
But what if they removed their bikinis?

Camiguin Rep. Pedro Romualdo has a “bright idea” to maintain a quorum and ensure the passage of key legislation – lock congressmen inside the House of Representatives plenary hall after the roll call.
They shouldn’t do that.
Some naughty guys may start calling them inmates and others won’t be able to spot the difference.
