Sunday, May 11, 2008 Paquiao: Overeating, a silent killer By Calixto S. Paquiao fitness & you
A LOT of people overeat as though they were going to be sentenced through the electric chair the following day or as if they have no more tomorrow.
I know a lot of people, especially the sedentary ones who, by habit and conditioning, will get up in the morning and eat a heavy breakfast of rice, hotcakes with bacon and eggs, buttered toast and stimulating drinks, like coffee or tea.
Then when they go to work in their office or go to a store, they have the urge to have their mid-morning snacks, either burger with fries or slices of bread with bacon or egg. Then at noon they eat a heavy meal, which consists of two cups of rice, meat, a dessert and beverage, like soft drinks and cakes. In the mid-afternoon, they again have snacks and more sugared drinks.
Then when dinner comes, they have their biggest meal of the day consisting of a quarter-pound beefsteak or pork chop, potato salad, rice, dessert and beverage.
Typically, after the end of the day, they watch TV while eating another snack! Whew, what a busy eating day!
This kind of daily habit of overeating is making thousands of people sick, fat, and exhausted. This habit is sending them to doctors, clinics, hospitals and too many to an early trip to the grave.
It’s a sad fact that millions and thousands are sick, and grossly overweight and it’s all due to an unhealthy lifestyle.
The average person living an ordinary and inactive lifestyle cannot possibly burn up the tremendous amount of food!
Overeating is a vicious and dangerous habit. These people have been told they must have regular meals at regular hours, and they believe this nonsense!
They think that with this constant stuffing, they are keeping up their strength but they are doing just the opposite! They are weakening their precious one and only body! How? By overeating, they are burdening the machinery of their entire body!
We see these greatly overstuffed and over fueled people every day. Look around you, and you will notice many overweight, sluggish victims of overeating who suffer from poor posture and chronic fatigue.
They look like a penguin. If this describes you, take notice and change your lifestyle today. Don’t waste another precious day, which will bring you closer to your grave.
Grab a pair of rubber shoes and exercise attire, and start your day with an early brisk walk and a strength-training program.
