Mabolo fire destroys businessman's house

A BUSINESSMAN’S house was destroyed when fire hit Casal’s Village in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City Friday night.

A nearby house owned by one Tony Dy was also damaged.

Cebu City fire department received the call for assistance at 7:21 p.m, and declared the blaze under control five minutes after firefighters arrived in the scene.

The fire razed the house of Alfred Chua, owner of a fashion boutique in the city.

Chua and his family were not around when fire broke out. A female housemaid was reportedly the only one left in the house.

SFO2 Felix Romero said the fire was already huge when the Mabolo fire truck first arrived in the area.

He said several neighbors spotted the housemaid running outside and crying while watching the flames engulf the house.

Cause

She will be invited to help in the investigation, particularly in determining the cause of the fire, which detroyed an estimated P350,000 worth of properties.

The incident came a day after four houses owned by the family of Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer were damaged in a fire that hit Barangay Sambag I, Cebu City.

Damage cost

Fire Marshal Esmael Codilla pegged the damage at P250,000.

Aside from Dr. Bullecer’s houses, the fire also damaged that of Randy and Jee Rosell Bullecer and Pergentina Dacerna.
