Police probe nears completion

A CARTOGRAPHIC sketch has been made of one of two gunmen in the killing of robbery suspect Recolly Igoy and his cousin Ronalde Enario.

Minglanilla Police Chief Romeo Santander, however, said they have yet to show it to Recolly’s wife.

Meanwhile, he said, they are “80 percent complete” in their investigation.

In a radio dyLA interview yesterday morning, Senior Insp. Santander said that there were two gunmen even though only one sketch was made.

He said this was because the other suspect was wearing a helmet.

The sketch was made based on the description of witnesses.

Released

Igoy had just been released from the Carcar City Jail when two men on two motorcycles shot at them in Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla last Wednesday.

The incident happened after he posted bail for the robbery case he was facing.

Recolly survived a shootout with policemen in Carcar City following an attempt to rob the Rural Bank of Cebu South last month. His companion Nelson Gutierrez Jr. was killed.

Police had been trying to convince him to become a state witness and reveal who else was involved in the robbery. This was after they found the getaway car parked at the Gaisano Carcar.

Attack

Igoy and Enario, who were in the car last Wednesday, were killed while Recolly’s wife Annalie was shot in the hand. His sister Chona also has a bullet wound in her shoulder.

Santander said Annalie and Chona are out of danger.

Though Recolly’s parents announced they were no longer interested in the results of the investigation, Santander said Annalie and Chona have been very cooperative.

He also assured that they will be able to file a case but did not elaborate, saying Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Carmelo Valmoria will disclose all the details in due time.

Santander said all the affidavits of the witnesses have already been prepared. (MEA)
