Red Bull beats Welcoat for seventh win

MANILA - The Red Bull Barakos showed no mercy to the Welcoat Dragons as they pulled off a lopsided 109-88 win yesterday in the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.

The fired up Barakos were hot all day, firing from all angles led by Cyrus Baguio, import Adam Parada and the diminutive Warren Ybañez.

The three finished with a combined 49 points, which is almost half of their total output in the match en route to keeping the top spot with a 7-2 slate.

The 5-foot-8 guard Ybanez, the 30th overall pick by Coca-Cola in 2004, scored 14 points in the first half alone to lift the Barakos to a big 37-59 lead at the end of the half.

Ybañez also finished with two rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Baguio provided ample support with 18 points, 1 rebound, four assists and a lone steal.

The 7-foot Parada, a consistent member of the Mexican national team, settled for 17 points on top of nine rebounds and two assists.

The 6-foot-8 import Gainous top-scored for the Dragons, who dropped to a 3-6 card, with 25 points.

Joe Devance scored 20, while the six-foot import Corey Santee had 15 for Welcoat.
