Telco supports rural banks’ technical needs

GLOBE and the Confederation of Central Luzon Rural Banks Inc. (CCLRB) have joined forces to organize this year’s Rural Bankers’ Management Conference, which aims to put emphasis on the benefits of “banking on technology” for success.

At least 150 rural banking delegates comprise the attendees. These delegates are chairmen, chief executive officers, directors, and senior officers of rural banks from Central Luzon.

Globe’s participation in this year’s conference is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to share CCLRB’s vision to help small players utilize technology to gain competitive advantage.

Globe Business head Gil B. Genio, who was invited to deliver the conference’s keynote address, is a strong advocate of this vision.

Genio cited Globe’s flagship mobile commerce service, GCASH as a tool to tap the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) market in the country. As more and more OFWs discover the convenience of using GCASH in covering payments, salaries, remittances, and withdrawal-deposit transactions, Globe has started integrating the system into rural banks.

Genio also cited the Micro Asenso! Text Facility as an example. The service enables Filipino businesses to easily and instantly reach more than 3,000 micro financing institutions across the country.

The service benefits budding micro entrepreneurs who want to start a business and need capital. (PR)
