Man may end up in jail for trying to secure release
HE WANTED police to let his two friends go. But as things are unfolding now, Mariano Cabalda Sable might be joining them in jail.
Police lodged charges against him last Friday, after he allegedly offered PO1s Ricafort Sucgang and Marvin Sanson P8,000 for the release of his companions, Victor Siga Tenio and Michael Cadungog Visarra.
Tenio and Visarra were arrested last Thursday night for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tenio hails from N. Bacalso Ave., while Visarra is from A. Borres St., in Barangay Suba, both in Cebu City.
According to police, they had yet to begin their investigation when Sable showed up at Police Station 6 in B. Aranas St.
Sable, they said, entered the investigation room and approached Sucgang and Sanson.
“The suspect, with deliberate intent to bribe, then and there, handed to use the cash amounting to P8,000,” Sucgang and Sanson said.
Plaint corrected
“Thus, we accosted him, informed (told) him the nature of (the) offense he had committed and appraised him of his constitutional rights,” the police said.
Assistant City Prosecutor Patrick Osorio conducted the inquest investigation over the case Friday afternoon.
It was he who docketed the complaint as an incident of corruption of private officials.
The police had mistakenly charged Sable with direct bribery. That offense, Osorio explained, is intended for a public official who allows himself to be bribed. (KNR)
