Monday, May 19, 2008 Man hooked on drugs beats up and stabs 3 women and a girl, 5
FOUR women, including a five-year-old girl, were wounded after an alleged drug user stabbed and beat them up several times in Camella Homes in Barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City Saturday morning.
Marivic Mata, 31, Melva Osabel, 27, Marvie Escalante, 23, and Bianca Osabel, five, were all taken to the South General Hospital in Naga City for treatment of their stab wounds.
A tanod of Barangay Lawaan 1 arrested Ronnie Albert Tomakin, 23.
Police recovered a bloodstained kitchen knife, steel pipe and claw hammer, which they believe were used as weapons.
They also recovered two cellular phones that belonged to the victims.
An investigation conducted by PO2 Leandro Azarcon and PO1 Jun Dave David showed that Tomakin, who hails from Barangay Mabolo in Cebu City, was a regular visitor of Mata as her husband is his uncle.
Tomakin, who is reportedly a drug dependent, allegedly asked Mata for money.
When she gave him P300, he was enraged at the small amount and an argument ensued.
Tomakin allegedly then picked up a knife and pipe and began to beat up Mata.
Her sisters Marvie and Melva tried to stop him but he turned his ire on them and began hurting them as well.
He then grabbed two cellular phones belonging to Marvie and Melva.
Their neighbors in Camella Homes heard the noise coming from Mata’s house, prompting them to check what was going on.
Alarmed, Tomakin squeezed himself in the space between the ceiling and the roof.
Tanod Glencio Cañeda found him hiding there and placed him under arrest. He was turned over to the responding policemen from the Talisay City Police Station.
The suspect is now detained at the police station while a charge for robbery with multiple frustrated homicide is being prepared against him. (MEA with VLM of Superbalita)
