The turn-of-the-century, all-white residence of former Cebu City Mayor Alvin Garcia and better-half, Ninette was the venue for the regular Bachelors-Femina (BF) affair, this time to induct the new officers of the BF clubs for 2008-2009, Of course, the BF alumni (here refers to a mixed group) were not far behind. Give it to BF alumni president Perla Agudo-Peterson who continues to be the prime mover for the rejuvenation of the defunct Club, which “faded away” sometime in the 70s.
As host and inducting officer, Alvin gave a warm and inspirational speech to the new bachelors, one of whom was his own son, Raymond. On the other hand, by sheer coincidence, New York-based Paching Velez, Femina president 1967,
happened to be in town. Perla lost no time in inviting her over. Call that perfect timing!
The young swains and sprites were in full attendance, to name a few: Leandro Almendras, Alex Coo, Dec Brian Gabasa, Neil Bryan Gilbuena, Bono Suzara, Daniel Anton, Jose Mari Ponse, Joseph Santos, Randy Catane and Chad Allen Alsay.
The chicks were: Mia Zamora, Nikki Taylor, Summer Eve Shafer, Samantha Perez, Pamela Estalilla, Jehan Maris Marnita, Janice Najarro, Kristine Cavan, Psyche and Samantha Ronquillo, Sharon Onrejas, Carlo Go, Katrina Christie Kho, Ish Rodriguez, Marie Young and Mona Andaya.
The two glam BF mamas: Rosebud Rivilla-Sala, and Annie Corrales-Mahrt.
Showing full support for the young ones were alumni Perla Peterson, Betty Young, Susan Rodriguez, Jane Llaban, Anita San Jose, Anne Marie Uy, Ivy Simon, Gina Kahler, Dolly De Mendoza, May Tan, Coling Garcia, Mary Jane Estalilla, Tessie Javier, Loretta Calderon, Marina Parado, Elsa Yared, Mitos Montilla, Marilou Bernardo, Diana Ledesma, Farida Lozada, Ningning Salcedo, Helen Misa and Marvi Sala.
The bachelors, many of whom are now spoken for, were Eddie Bernardo, Billy Boy Dee, Jaime Picornell, Tonyboy Rodriguez, Vic Torres, Junjo Ferreros, David Young, Ben Estalilla, Tony Lozada, Rolly Bernardo and Herbert Cang. Ladies, can you venture a guess as to who among these fine gentlemen are still bonafide bachelors. Anyway, Perla, ever the livewire, informs us that the next activity will be a transition/fellowship dinner at Tony Lozada’s lovenest at No. 9 Fagara St., Northtown homes, Talamban, On May 31, Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Present will be the new BF officers and board of directors and alumni advisory board.

Guess who breezed into town straight from Senator Barack Obama’s turf in Chicago, Illinois.
Dahlia Suzara, a member of Assumption Convent High School Class 1959. When we met her at her hotel, we asked: “How did you know our number?" She answered, “I have relatives in Cebu." Quick as a wink, we mobilized our classmates for lunch at Casino Espańol, Marilu C., Corie J., Terry M. and CVU.
After we had an update at the last 48 years (we hadn’t met since graduation) we brought her back to the future and made sure she “drops everything” to attend our Class Golden Jubilee in 2009!
Same time next year, Dahlia!
