Powerbooks opens at The Northwing of SM

POWERBOOKS brings its venerable collection of literary works down south with the grand opening of its flagship branch on May 24, 4 p.m. at The Northwing (Level 2) of SM City Cebu, the first specialty bookstore in the area.

As with other Powerbooks locations, the Cebu branch indulges local patrons with a leisurely reading experience via its contemporary interiors and cozy ambience. On display are foreign and local titles ranging from fiction to history, business, lifestyle, arts and other genres. Lounge couches and a showcase of recommended books line the store, encouraging customers to browse and read.

With Cebu’s rich culture and the Cebuano’s love for good food and eating as proven by their famous lechon de leche, assortment of fruits and other local delicacies, Powerbooks creates a grand opening that hits close to home. The event’s theme is all about food, and authors and foodies Felice Prudente Sta. Maria and Rory Cruz Subida are all set to grace the Cebu launch for an irresistible combination of great literature and good eats.

During the event, Sta. Maria will talk about her book The Governor-General’s Kitchen: Philippine Culinary Vignettes and Period Recipes, a fascinating and comprehensive review of the Philippines’ 400-year culinary history. Afterwards, Subida will give a live cooking demonstration with Q and A.

Fans of these authors may have their books signed after the event. Lucky patrons may also get a chance to win special Powerbooks gift items in the raffle.
