Balbona siblings take lead in SK Federation chess
AFTER three rounds, the siblings Jessa Balbona, Marc Gabrielle Balbona, Felix Shaun Balbona and John Balbona took the lead in their respective categories in the 2008 Cebu City SK Federation Chess Tournament the other day at the Don Bernardo Benidicto Cultural Center.
Four of the five Balbona siblings who joined the tournament are ranked on top after day one.
Jessa and Marc Gabrielle led all the other players with 2.5 points apiece in the Juniors category after three rounds, while Felix Shaun and John along with Kyle Sevillano top the kiddies category with three points each.
Trailing behind the Balbona siblings in the juniors category, for the 13 to 18-year-old players, are Arvin Riveral, Justin Flint Misa and Jan Cleomar Tilus with two points each and Richard Abangan and Efren Tonolite with one point apiece.
KC Morala, Raymond Abellana, James Andrew Balbona, Raffy Bensi, Philip Teves, Glexan Derotas, Harold Pones and Tristan Alasgas all had two points for the kiddies category. (EKA)
