Fistic trio set for photo op with fans

AFTER spending hours of rigid training in preparation for their upcoming battles International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental super flyweight titleholder Z “The Dream” Gorres, former World Boxing Council flyweight champion Malcolm “Eagle Eye” Tuñacao and young rising talent Jason Pagara will take a time off to meet their beloved Cebuano supporters in a public preview at the SM City Cebu Entertainment Plaza on May 26 for the “One More Time” fight card slated on May 31 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino.

Pictorial

Dennis Cañete, ALA Promotions vice president for events, announced yesterday that Gorres, Tuñacao and Pagara will have their pictures be taken and sign autographs for their fans in a “One More Time” public preview.

Previous Gorres fights will also be aired for the boxing fanatics and mall goers to witness.

Gorres is up for a crucial fistic encounter with Universal Boxing Organization king Nick “Kanyankole” Otieno in the main event of “One More Time” in which will determine his future if he deserves a world title shot.

Challenge

Gorres was recently challenged by Kenyan warrior, “I am making my first trip to Cebu to pick up a vital victory. We Kenyans are known for running in athletics, but I am coming there to make someone run away from my punches. And that man is Gorres,” taunted Otieno, who will be arriving on Teusday along with the other foreign pugilists.

The Cebuano combatant hasn’t answered to Otieno’s challenge.

In a comeback fight, Tuñacao will be trading leathers with Tanzania Professional Boxing kingpin Rashid Ally while the 16 year old Pagara will be up against Heri Andriyanto for the vacant World Boxing Organization lightweight crown in his debut match as an ALA boy.

If Pagara comes out victorious, he will be the youngest ALA boxer to ever hold that title.

Along with Gorres, Tuñacao and Pagara in the public preview will be other up and rising ALA boxers.

This boxing extravaganza is organized by ALA Promotions in cooperation with Waterfront Hotel and Casino, Big Mao and Golden Cowrie. (EKA)
