AS PART of its commitment to its customers, oil giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. has enhanced its fuel economy formula to address the motorists’ need to maximize the use of fuel.
Shell’s fuel technology manager for Asia Pacific and the Middle East Eric Holthusen said the new formula was the same one used by John and Helen Taylor to set a Guinness World Record for Fuel Economy in 2006.
Exclusive
But the latest development, said Holthusen, is that it is now added with ingredients that are “exclusively” for its customers.
The fuel economy formula contains triple-action cleaning agents that help remove the build-up of deposits in the car’s engine, he said.
“It keeps the engine clean,” Holthusen said in a phone interview yesterday. Aside from this, Holthusen also said that vehicle emissions are also cleaner.
The new formula has already been available nationwide since May 16.
In Cebu, Shell part-nered with the International Pharmaceuticals Inc. (IPI) to test the new fuel economy formula.
Consumption
“The company was able to save 16 percent of its fuel consumption,” Holthusen said.
The company will also be rolling out a series of activities to introduce the product, as well as conduct more tests within the next few weeks.
By August or September, Shell will bring to the country a fuel economy simulator to test the Filipinos’ knowledge on fuel economy.
The simulator is similar to a car race arcade game which will allow the person to do a driving simulation. Participants will be asked to drive the simulator twice.
The first try will allow experts from Shell to evaluate the driver’s skill on fuel economy driving and on the second try, the driver will be asked to apply tips given by Shell on how to do better. (DME)
