Wednesday, May 28, 2008 City cops considering Radaza’s suggestion
THOUGH police have yet to zero in on a motive for the killing of lawyer Richard Sison, Cebu City Police Office Director Patrocinio Comendador said they are “seriously considering” the theory suggested by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza.
In his news conference yesterday, Comendador said he has tasked Supt. Pablo Labra II to keep in touch with the City Government of Lapu-Lapu.
Radaza, in his letter to Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Ronald Roderos, asked the police to look into tax evasion and smuggling issues as possible motives for Sison’s death.
Sison was Radaza’s legal counsel in the complaints of alleged overpriced lampposts and computers.
As City Hall’s legal consultant, Sison also took charge in organizing the catch-a-tax-evader program.
Letter
Comendador said he has a copy of the letter, which Roderos provided to him.
Comendador also said they are planning to seek technical assistance as the inbox of Sison’s cellular phone had no more messages stored.
“We don’t know what happened,” Comendador admitted.
Earlier, he said they were planning to ask someone from the National Transmission Commission to come in because they did not want to touch the cellular phone as it was soaked in blood and could damage some of the phone’s parts.
A case conference was held at the PRO 7 Monday afternoon wherein they discussed all possible motives.
He admitted having received “so many theories,” lengthening the process of eliminating each angle.
He said, though, that they have to identify the gunman first before they can point to a motive and the mastermind. (MEA)
