Wednesday, May 28, 2008 Murder complaint filed v. Gingoyon’s ‘attackers’
POLICE filed a murder complaint yesterday against the suspects in the killing of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-7) agent Pricillano Gingoyon Jr.
SPO2 Rolito Jumao-as, Homicide chief of the Lapu-lapu City Police Office told Sun.Star Superbalita that they had already filed the case at the Lapu-lapu City Prosecutors Office.
It was reported earlier that Gingoyon’s family wanted the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 to handle the investigation, not the Lapu-Lapu City Police.
But yesterday, Gingoyon’s widow Evelyn went to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office together with lawyer Victor Gingoyon to sign an affidavit of complaint against suspects Romulo Sereño and Michael Bacluhan.
“The victim’s wife was here. So were the ones who filed the case,” Jumao-as said.
He said the NBI will just back the police investigation up since the victim’s family had also sought their help.
Jumao-as said they have two witnesses in the case. One of them is Paner Cacha, who was with Gingoyon at the time of the incident. In an affidavit Cacha gave to the NBI 7, he identified Soreño and Bacluhan as the gunmen.
Not identified
The second witness is barangay tanod Arnel Guillarawan, who was also present at the crime scene. But Guillarawan didn’t identify the suspects as the ones who shot Gingoyon.
“It’s now up to the fiscals,” Jumao-as said.
Jumao-as said the firearms seized from the suspects are still under examination.
But they already found out that these didn’t match the ones that could have been used in the killing. The guns used in the shooting were .45 pistols while the ones they seized from Bacluhan were a .38 revolver and an Uzi that used 9mm bullets.
They will also submit results of the paraffin tests conducted on the suspects.
The suspects had denied any participation in the killing last Friday night in Lapu-lapu City.
Gingoyon was shot while inside his vehicle together with Cacha in Barangay Basak.
Gingoyon still made it to the hospital alive. But he died hours later. Cacha was wounded in the legs.
Cacha said he saw the gunman and the driver of the motorcycle used by the suspects because their helmets didn’t cover their faces.
He identified Soreño as the motorcycle driver and Bacluhan as the gunman. (DRT of Sun.Star Super-balita)
